BENEFICIAL EFFECT OF HEADWEAR ON HAIR AND SCALP

Especially in autumn and winter, but also in early spring, it is worth wearing a hat. The cap protects the hair against the adverse effects of external factors. If chosen well, it can have a positive impact on the appearance, condition and health of your hair.

The purpose of a hat is to protect our head against heat loss, because approximately 70% of heat escapes through the head. warm. So if you don't have a hat on your head and it's cold, windy and rainy outside, even the warmest clothes and woolen socks won't keep you warm. Health factors are one thing, hair condition is another. However, in both cases, wearing a hat in winter is essential. Without a cap, your hair will become increasingly dry, brittle and dull . They will lose their shine, may begin to fall out and become visibly weakened. This is influenced by unfavorable atmospheric factors, such as frost, wind and sudden temperature changes.

To protect our hair and scalp against cold and other external factors, we must hide all our hair under a hat. It is not enough to put it only on the top of the head and leave the rest of the hair unprotected. In this way, we will protect the hair bulbs, but we will expose a large part of their surface and the ends to unfavorable weather conditions. Therefore, when buying a hat, choose one that will allow you to hide all your hair - whether in the form of a bun, braid, or even loose and thrown to one side so that it does not lose volume.

When choosing headgear, you should avoid those made of synthetic materials (acrylic, polyacrylic, polyamide), which do not allow air to pass through and create a kind of "sauna" on our heads. This environment is not healthy for the scalp - it causes sweating and production of more sebum, and does not protect it well from the cold. The best choice will be a headgear made of natural or artificial materials, such as cotton, wool, cashmere, viscose, bamboo .

How do external factors affect the condition and appearance of hair?

  • Temperature – both too high and too low temperatures are harmful to the hair. In winter, we experience rather low temperatures, often even extremely low ones, and you can notice their effect on your hair very quickly. Being outside in frosty weather causes your hair to become covered with a layer of frost that you don't even have to see. Water freezing on the hair destroys its structure, and when it thaws (after returning to a warm room), it begins to evaporate, leading to dry hair. Cold has a similar effect on hair follicles, which weaken them, contributing to the deterioration and health of the hair, which also results in hair loss. Sudden changes in temperature, e.g. after entering a warm room or leaving the house on a frosty day, disrupt the proper functioning of the sebaceous glands. They begin to produce excessive amounts of sebum and thus contribute to the hair becoming greasy faster and causing dandruff.
  • Wind - wind tangling your hair can cause damage - breaking and brittleness. In addition, the wind deprives the hair of moisture and causes it to dry out and lose its softness and elasticity.
